Head's Up: Restraining Order Filed Against Moss

Posted by Cheezer

I don't really have time to research this, but a Florida radio station is reporting that Randy Moss has had a Retraining Order filed against him.

http://580wdbo.com/includes/news/indepth/04498_Randy-Moss-Hit-With-Temporary-Restraining-Order__105029.html

Allegedly, he hit a woman and would not allow her to seek medical treatment.

I don't know if this is just a publicity hound or if there is some substance to these allegations.

Maybe a more interested party would like to look into it.

UPDATE:

Looks like Extortion:

Moss: “It’s unfair to athletes if a person makes a false claim. You know, there is nothing we can do. The only thing we can do is either pay up or sit back and listen to what’s been said or what’s being written. I can honestly say I am a … I don’t know what the word is to use … that’s what position I’m in. For someone to make a false claim about me, I’m kind furious. It kind of hurts me deep inside for someone to do something like that, because I’ve always said time and time again that I am going to stand up for what’s right. If I’m right, I’m right. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. And that’s where you have your attorneys, your friends, so when you’re wrong someone can tell you you’re wrong. You know what I mean? My situation is where I felt that I did nothing wrong. It was an accident. Whatever happened, it was an accident. I wish I could sit here and yell you all what happened. But there is a lawsuit or whatever is been coming against me, I can’t really explain or tell you all what is going on. All I want to say is that I’m going to continue to play football. I think that last Friday, this man wanted to come out with it, to try to distract the team and distract me. You know what I’m saying? There was much more said, a lot of verbal, a lot of cuss words, a lot of things that I should be doing – ‘you better do this or else, you better do this or else’ – well, I thought it was bad because now you’re threatening me. So I brought it to Coach and said ‘Look Coach, I’m being threatened to do something that I have no idea of what I need to be doing.’ I was advised to just focus on playing football and then I’ll handle this once the season is over. Whenever the season is over, I plan on sitting down and really getting to the bottom of this. Right now, I have a job to do."

Most of all, remember this. There have been no charges filed against Moss by the Police.

Similar to the Pacman story, I will wait till the facts come out on this one.

The only thing that worries me about this is that he's got a court hearing on the 28th, which will probably cut into practice time and be a bit of a distraction for Moss.

If this restraining order is valid, then Randy Moss should be automatically suspended by Roger Goodell. Otherwise, it is a double standard.

I was thinking the same thing... but a restraining order and its process is a lot different than any top of arrest or charges...

The thing is that you don't have to have proof or be convicted of anything to get a restraining order. I know you can say Pac Man wasn't convicted of anything either, but he clearly doesn't have his act together and has more offenses than you can count on one hand. I don't know if this can be considered suspension worthy.

i listened to moss's interview on Nesn...

i have 2 thoughts

1) he sounded really sincere and focused on playing. For one, I don't think it will effect the AFC CHampionship (the SB is a whole other ball of wax). Additionally, he seemed very annoyed, not at the media attack, but at the situation, in a fashion that i would expect someone who was falsely accused of doing. Similar to those duke boys (if you need a reference)...

that's just my opinion

Additionally, my understanding is that Moss probably won't face any NFL punishments.

Given his past history, I'm curious as to why the NFL hasn't had a bitchfest yet and why Kaiser Goodell hasn't done anything yet.

On the other hand, this isn't a charge...its just a restraining order. So perhaps ramifications may occur when other things come out or charges are made...

I'm closer to moss on this one than the accuser...

I think the restraining order might have been put in place to avoid conflict between the two parties. There's no charges filed, and I agree to some extent with the Duke reference, though I think the motivation is completely different (duke lax wanted to not only clear their names, but set the record straight as to what happened, whereas Moss wants this to be done with ASAP)

The demon is aware that if Randy Moss did not wear the uniform of the New England Patriots, then many individuals here would be screaming for his immediate suspension.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to Tyrone. He used to be a legitimate user of this site.

It could be that people like Pacman are accused of things a heck of a lot worse than injuring someone's finger. At the most, Moss has a permanent restraining order, and gives the woman half a mil. Pacman gets detained by police, and faces consequences that can't be fixed with a court document and writing out a check.
