I haven't been the model of consistency and frequent posting/editing here at ArmchairGM so I am not in the best position to start openly criticizing the users here. However, I do find myself wondering what the hell happened here at ArmchairGM.com. It seemed like just a few years ago this site was a booming place for sports discussion. Now, it seems like just a ghost town. Seriously, it's easier to find user wars in the lockeroom and in the comments section than regular sports talk. I know this call has been echoed before, but please just put your personal differences aside and stick to sports chat. It'll be better for you and in the end, better for the future of ArmchairGM. If you have a problem with somebody, just ignore them. Seriously!

AGM to me is a little bit of a passing fad. Have you ever been to the SB Nation blogs? You could make the case AGM was one of the pioneering websites for broad sports discussion and eventually other sites came along and are thriving.
It seems the three users you mentioned as having left are all still in semi-regular contact with said user "Manny Stiles" - yes, CPCP, NiteOwl and Falcon have all held e-mail convos with the one you cast blame upon... It has also been brought to my attention that several contributing users (including one you have prominently mentioned) have left ArmchairGM directly because of YOUR actions and others have stated directly it was because of the nagging criticisms in article comments of a particular know-it-all user from the Boston area (I know, I know... which one?)
I know for a fact that few people enjoy having every little nuance being picked over while the rest of their effort is unappreciated. Perhaps positive reinforcement goes further than bitching and annoying?
Perhaps focusing your positive reinforcement in the direction of people who CAN generate quality articles, content and ideas and people who drive traffic, conversations and recruit more users is more important than correcting minute facts, disrespecting people's opinions and ruling the community with a 'one-size-fits-all' mentality?
Regardless of why people leave, wouldn't it be wise to consider - I know this is a stretch for you - making the experience for the current users a pleasurable one instead of a lame-riddled drag? Politics, semantics and beligerence from know it all site scout raiders and immature administrators seems like behavior that would be reserved for another forum NOT revolving around the realm of sports.
There is a way to not only keep people here, but also to bring more too... Big Hint: What's not fresh is stale... Small Hint: it doesn't have to do with banning content-providing users who can generate new material, new ideas and quality sports banter constantly.
Biggest hint of all: Stop living in the past, stop assuming you have your finger on the pulse of a community that is constantly evolving and not a solid entity and move forward with supporting your positive contributors.
This is only strengthening our points that AGM is just a flame thread waiting to happen.
It's the road that helps complicate this whole situation dealing with him.

A note to SSR - I appreciate you clearing the Capt. but unfortunately I won't rest until Sports Shaman has his name cleared. He is a fine, karmically aligned person and it pains me that he has been persecuted for being associated with my name. He is a real person. As for You Know Who - obviously, continuing the ridiculous and unneccessary ban on that user name has no effect on my actions; at least no positive effect. It doesn't even slow me down. What's right is for you to go away until your block is over, and to not continue to avoid it, to not attempt to screw with other users accounts (read mine), and to accept that like it or not, the admins decided that even if Manny didn't need a break from AGM, AGM needed a break from manny.

I can take a hint. My articles clearly are not the top thing on this site, or else I'd see more than 11 freaking comments on two articles. That won't stop me from writing, and it won't stop me from bitching about THE LACK OF COMMENTS. Let me say that again: LACK OF COMMENTS.

I don't see FP commenting on my articles...ever. Occasionally, I'll get Romi and SSR, and more often than not, I'll get Rawb. Which is good, because, in my mind, if it weren't for Rawb, there would be almost NO comments on this site.

Comments breed comments. Rawb comments, I try to reply. Same for Romi and SSR. Maybe they answer back. Bingo. Suddenly, we've got a conversation. If Romi, Rawb, Me, SSR and FP all comment on the same article...well, we don't want to go there.
I apologize to FP for calling him out, but he wrote this post, and I felt that I needed to mention the lack of comments in general and the lack of comments from FP in particular. I've said this more than a few times: COMMENT! And if you don't - stop complaining about the site activity. If you don't comment, you have become a cause of said lack of activity.
I really should comment more. However, I'm kinda trying to take a pseudo-break from AGM (even if this whole fiasco wasn't happening I would still be having to do this - I've got stuff in the real world to work on and even when I'm contributing useful stuff, this site is a massive time suck for me).
Tell ya what, I'll work on a template that works as an RSS feed for articles by users that I know produce good/entertaining stuff (even if we assume the j-roll song parody is a pathetic excuse for an article it's relatively amusing/creative) and go there instead of to the home page when i stop by here.
And i'm cool with you calling me out. I feel like i have to defend myself against the drivel that certain users are saying about me when i see it, so i waste time commenting in the LR instead of on articles

That's a good point, one that requires support, I believe. I know of at least two admins who were not in support of Manny's ban, and of one who actually removed it.
So here is what should happen next:
How many admins total are on the site..active and inactive?
How many actually voted, and how did they vote? (and name names)
Was there enough for a quorum?
Whether Manny is here or not isn't the point. He wasn't arguing/debating with himself, and he wasn't the only one to cross the etiquette line, why was he the only one banned?

This really wasn't organized well at all, and it was just just agreed (or disagreed) as time went by. It wasn't really a vote... it just happened, and we debated. Then we just stopped, since things were looking a little better than before, on the site.
I'm just getting the impression that only Manny Stiles can do whatever he wants with the community watching and get away with it. I'm getting the impression that despite Davis, myself, FP, and Justin all warning Manny to quit quarreling and attacking with several users (mainly Rawb), that Manny is just being Manny when clearly someone, say, Jamel would've gotten the heavy banhammer.
Manny asked himself to be banned (scroll down the locker room) and now he's bitching about it? This attention-seeking crap is dumb.
Obviously it's okay only for Manny Stiles, 55 days, or whatever he calls himself, to (while banned may I add):
- Change another ADMIN's log-in password on purpose.
- Call that same ADMIN a nazi and an idiot over and over again.
- Write several lockerroom posts specifically attacking said ADMIN.
- Randomly make derogatory comments towards other users.
- Create several accounts while banned a la Jamel.
If you want Manny unbanned despite me mentioning all of this, then go on. It wasn't handled in the greatest way in the first place and it won't be handled in the greatest way when he's unblocked.
If the website becomes MannyGM all because the real people in charge aren't here, where it's okay for only 1 user to do what he wants, say what he wants without being questioned, then so be it.
When you log into your account, if you hit "new Password" it sends a new password to your e-mail address. I've done it to myself on accident several times before so I know EXACTLY how it works. It still allows you to use your old password. It was done as a joke - tby me to mess with False Prophet and yes, I STILL think it's hilarious how big a deal he and SSR turned it into.
The point is, whether or not I wrote a lockerroom piece about "ban me" or not (read the whole thing, don't judge it by the title), I WAS un-banned unfairly, unwarned and for a ridiculously long time - for instance, more than twice as long as Donte Stallworth paid for KILLING SOMEONE! - because of PERSONAL issues with a mere three users here at AGM. Rawb, SSR and FP are the people to blame for this mess - and to a lesser extent JuT and whoever needs to hide behind HeywoodJablome (clearly another AGM member with multiple accounts)
Point is - if you douches would stick to sports instead of making me your minus target, your barometer for nuisance and arguing magnet, THIS SITE WOULD BE JUST FINE. As stated before - I give what I get - it's why Romi and Cheezer and Erooster get my utmost respect and support, it's why DDub and KD get my deepest analytical insights, why constant producers like Trecole, BigBen and LouGehrig get my positive appreciation and why users like Tmil, ONR, AOEH, LASB and the like get my smart assed comments.
It's why FP, SSR and Rawb get my unadulterated utter nonsense. they blame me for things they are responsible for...

And because these people can't handle a world where people are different than themselves, who see things the way they are instead of how they "think" they are and need to control every nanosemantic statement tat this site has been driven into the Hall of Lame that it has become - because NO ONE is willing to bother to fight their behavior.
There is TOO MUCH negativity and needless comments. There is not enough support or positivity or ***GASP*** here I go again -FUN - around here... but I'm the one who got banned... OK?

I miss the long, thoughtful articles that used to be found on this site from Manny Stiles. I may not have agreed with all of the content, but I was rarely bored by it. I miss the insightful comments and reasoned arguments Manny Stiles presented. I don't miss the sniping and deliberate attempts to get a rise.

Manny frequently utters the motto "I give what I get," which I think demonstrates his attitude toward this site quite succinctly. He only likes people who like him, only respects people who respect him, only loves people who love him.
I don't know about anyone else, but I like people who are likeable. There have been plenty of people I've liked who didn't like me, and plenty have liked me who I've disliked. I respect people who I see as respectable. George Washington, for instance. But George doesn't respect me, doesn't even know me. My like, my respect, my love, and so on are not contingent on reciprocation. But perhaps I'm the only one who distributes respect and love in such a manner.
Manny gives what he gets. He loves AGM when AGM loves him. When AGM is ambivalent toward him, he runs away from it with a flowery retirement. When AGM bans him, he terrorizes it.
His behavior during the ban thus far demonstrates his attitudes to this site and its users. He hasn't used his endless supply of IP addresses to comment on articles in a productive/constructive manner. He's tried to bog AGM down in his typical flame-war BS. His repeated mantras like (I'm paraphrasing) "I would have left had I never been banned" and "I'll only contribute when my username is restored" reeks of ultimatumism and the hardliner rhetoric you'd expect from a terrorist. He's terrorizing this site until he gets what he wants from it.

ArmchairGM is the community for sports fans where you rule. Fans like you write and comment on articles and rate and vote on the best and worst things about sports.
Where who rules? That's right... you rule. The you is not directed to you, as in one you... it's pointing to a whole community who wants to talk sports. That's exactly what Manny Stiles wants. If you don't like it, ignore him. I can't emphasize on that enough.
Why does Armchair rock?
The ArmchairGM sports community is powered by passionate sports fans like yourself. You and your friends know more about the sports world than the so-called "experts."
I think we all know that Manny Stiles is passionate about sports and the teams and athletes he supports (sometimes too passionate). Even though he's passionate about what he detests as well, there's more good that comes into a user than there is bad. To me, another user in this community (whether it's one coming back or a new member joining) is just another mind for ArmchairGM to welcome. Plus, AGM has more potential for people to comment on articles with more members. And if there's spam, or something that doesn't pertain to sports, or something that we don't like... comment admins can always delete the comments, right? Everything else should stay put.
We are all missing the point of what AGM is. It's a website that is not only for me... it's not only for Manny Stiles, it's not only for SSR, it's not only for FP... it's not only for Davis... it's not only for Rawb: it's for everyone! When people check this website out, they should see a positive atmosphere in the articles that are produced and the comments that are provided... as well as the newly added Water Cooler (thanks again, FP, for another good idea).
I think we've all missed the point here. Let's just all do what the Beast said: grow up. I know people have crossed the line; I'm not going to remind people of who did what because I think we've all read it in lockerroom posts and comments about 100 times by now. Now, it's lost its popularity (gee, I wonder why). And I feel like I'm saying the same shit over and over again (well, I am... but still)

AGM to me is a little bit of a passing fad. Have you ever been to the SB Nation blogs? You could make the case AGM was one of the pioneering websites for broad sports discussion and eventually other sites came along and are thriving.
It seems the three users you mentioned as having left are all still in semi-regular contact with said user "Manny Stiles" - yes, CPCP, NiteOwl and Falcon have all held e-mail convos with the one you cast blame upon... It has also been brought to my attention that several contributing users (including one you have prominently mentioned) have left ArmchairGM directly because of YOUR actions and others have stated directly it was because of the nagging criticisms in article comments of a particular know-it-all user from the Boston area (I know, I know... which one?)
I know for a fact that few people enjoy having every little nuance being picked over while the rest of their effort is unappreciated. Perhaps positive reinforcement goes further than bitching and annoying?
Perhaps focusing your positive reinforcement in the direction of people who CAN generate quality articles, content and ideas and people who drive traffic, conversations and recruit more users is more important than correcting minute facts, disrespecting people's opinions and ruling the community with a 'one-size-fits-all' mentality?
Regardless of why people leave, wouldn't it be wise to consider - I know this is a stretch for you - making the experience for the current users a pleasurable one instead of a lame-riddled drag? Politics, semantics and beligerence from know it all site scout raiders and immature administrators seems like behavior that would be reserved for another forum NOT revolving around the realm of sports.
There is a way to not only keep people here, but also to bring more too... Big Hint: What's not fresh is stale... Small Hint: it doesn't have to do with banning content-providing users who can generate new material, new ideas and quality sports banter constantly.
Biggest hint of all: Stop living in the past, stop assuming you have your finger on the pulse of a community that is constantly evolving and not a solid entity and move forward with supporting your positive contributors.

That's a good point, one that requires support, I believe. I know of at least two admins who were not in support of Manny's ban, and of one who actually removed it.
So here is what should happen next:
How many admins total are on the site..active and inactive?
How many actually voted, and how did they vote? (and name names)
Was there enough for a quorum?
Whether Manny is here or not isn't the point. He wasn't arguing/debating with himself, and he wasn't the only one to cross the etiquette line, why was he the only one banned?

This really wasn't organized well at all, and it was just just agreed (or disagreed) as time went by. It wasn't really a vote... it just happened, and we debated. Then we just stopped, since things were looking a little better than before, on the site.
I'm just getting the impression that only Manny Stiles can do whatever he wants with the community watching and get away with it. I'm getting the impression that despite Davis, myself, FP, and Justin all warning Manny to quit quarreling and attacking with several users (mainly Rawb), that Manny is just being Manny when clearly someone, say, Jamel would've gotten the heavy banhammer.
Manny asked himself to be banned (scroll down the locker room) and now he's bitching about it? This attention-seeking crap is dumb.
Obviously it's okay only for Manny Stiles, 55 days, or whatever he calls himself, to (while banned may I add):
- Change another ADMIN's log-in password on purpose.
- Call that same ADMIN a nazi and an idiot over and over again.
- Write several lockerroom posts specifically attacking said ADMIN.
- Randomly make derogatory comments towards other users.
- Create several accounts while banned a la Jamel.
If you want Manny unbanned despite me mentioning all of this, then go on. It wasn't handled in the greatest way in the first place and it won't be handled in the greatest way when he's unblocked.
If the website becomes MannyGM all because the real people in charge aren't here, where it's okay for only 1 user to do what he wants, say what he wants without being questioned, then so be it.
When you log into your account, if you hit "new Password" it sends a new password to your e-mail address. I've done it to myself on accident several times before so I know EXACTLY how it works. It still allows you to use your old password. It was done as a joke - tby me to mess with False Prophet and yes, I STILL think it's hilarious how big a deal he and SSR turned it into.
The point is, whether or not I wrote a lockerroom piece about "ban me" or not (read the whole thing, don't judge it by the title), I WAS un-banned unfairly, unwarned and for a ridiculously long time - for instance, more than twice as long as Donte Stallworth paid for KILLING SOMEONE! - because of PERSONAL issues with a mere three users here at AGM. Rawb, SSR and FP are the people to blame for this mess - and to a lesser extent JuT and whoever needs to hide behind HeywoodJablome (clearly another AGM member with multiple accounts)
Point is - if you douches would stick to sports instead of making me your minus target, your barometer for nuisance and arguing magnet, THIS SITE WOULD BE JUST FINE. As stated before - I give what I get - it's why Romi and Cheezer and Erooster get my utmost respect and support, it's why DDub and KD get my deepest analytical insights, why constant producers like Trecole, BigBen and LouGehrig get my positive appreciation and why users like Tmil, ONR, AOEH, LASB and the like get my smart assed comments.

Manny frequently utters the motto "I give what I get," which I think demonstrates his attitude toward this site quite succinctly. He only likes people who like him, only respects people who respect him, only loves people who love him.
I don't know about anyone else, but I like people who are likeable. There have been plenty of people I've liked who didn't like me, and plenty have liked me who I've disliked. I respect people who I see as respectable. George Washington, for instance. But George doesn't respect me, doesn't even know me. My like, my respect, my love, and so on are not contingent on reciprocation. But perhaps I'm the only one who distributes respect and love in such a manner.
Manny gives what he gets. He loves AGM when AGM loves him. When AGM is ambivalent toward him, he runs away from it with a flowery retirement. When AGM bans him, he terrorizes it.
His behavior during the ban thus far demonstrates his attitudes to this site and its users. My "attitude" thus far has nothing to do with my feelings towards this site or the MAJORITY of it's users. Ask them, don't assume because YOU think everyone is just like you.

It takes 2 (or more) to flamewar. You guys contributed to this just as much as Manny. You don't like what he says, you can either ignore him or respond at your own risk. But to stoke a flamewar and then cry foul when it gets too intense for you is ridiculous.

What's ArmchairGM?
ArmchairGM is the community for sports fans where you rule. Fans like you write and comment on articles and rate and vote on the best and worst things about sports.
Where who rules? That's right... you rule. The you is not directed to you, as in one you... it's pointing to a whole community who wants to talk sports. That's exactly what Manny Stiles wants. If you don't like it, ignore him. I can't emphasize on that enough.
Why does Armchair rock?
The ArmchairGM sports community is powered by passionate sports fans like yourself. You and your friends know more about the sports world than the so-called "experts."
I think we all know that Manny Stiles is passionate about sports and the teams and athletes he supports (sometimes too passionate). Even though he's passionate about what he detests as well, there's more good that comes into a user than there is bad. To me, another user in this community (whether it's one coming back or a new member joining) is just another mind for ArmchairGM to welcome. Plus, AGM has more potential for people to comment on articles with more members. And if there's spam, or something that doesn't pertain to sports, or something that we don't like... comment admins can always delete the comments, right? Everything else should stay put.
We are all missing the point of what AGM is. It's a website that is not only for me... it's not only for Manny Stiles, it's not only for SSR, it's not only for FP... it's not only for Davis... it's not only for Rawb: it's for everyone! When people check this website out, they should see a positive atmosphere in the articles that are produced and the comments that are provided... as well as the newly added Water Cooler (thanks again, FP, for another good idea).

why don't I PRODUCE something? Because I'm you dipshit. And I haven't written anything since I got banned. Instead if focused all my energy on FP, SSR and Rawb hoping to get unbanned in the pointless effort of still being completely capable of producing articles under a pseudonym. Something I never had a problem with before (Ekum, TooMannyStiles, etc). But my ego's so large, I had to do it this way.
