Get Rid of Negatives

I expected a new user to say this, not somebody that's been here since before me!

You'll remember the olden days... When Xinoph managed to lose practically all his comment score just because of somebody randomly minusing him. The modified system incorporated plusses, rather than comment score, and we haven't had a repeat.

I like the minus though. Because sometimes, you just need to dish them out.

There is a reason why the negatives are in AGM. For saying irrelevant stuff, for going out of line, or for being gay (gay defined in all ways). I gotta agree with Alex and say that we should keep it because we need to keep AGM under control. And if we keep minusing points, it's gonna give them that feeling that they shouldn't talk about stuff that they had said as much. BUT, I agree with you on one thing: people just minus others just because they feel like it. I know there are some people that minus others just so they can jump to the next level of "Points per week" or something like that. For my overall decision, I'm going to say, keep the negatives, but you're right about them discouraging people. So, people, please, if someone disagrees with you, it doesn't mean that you have to be mad at them; take this into consideration the next time you minus someone.

I wouldn't mind if the score kept a track of thumbs up AND thumbs down instead of cummulating them. I'd like to know how many minuses and plusses are there instead of the sum of the two.

But in all reality - WHO cares about +/- ?

Haven't we been here before...i agree with alex, the "new" (its been like this for a year) system is fine...minuses are deserved for stupid comments and preventing AFs from doing it fixed most issues...the founders should know who is minusing if someone is doing it a lot...

Keep the negatives. In my experience, minuses are only given out when they are deserved, and when some disagrees, they explain why. Minuses are deserved, in my opinion, when you say something offensive, stupid, hurtful or contribute absolutely nothing to the article or AGM.

• RANDOM USE OF CAPS LOCK FOR NO REASON.

I only give negatives if they're obviously deserved. Like saying the Padres have a great hitting lineup, or writing the words "Stuart Scott" and that's it.

Keep the point system as is. I am cool with thumbs down and thumbs up. Let the marketplace determine if your comments are good or bad.

Is this from the same league that thinks every participant should get a medal and there are no losers in kickball or tag?
