Fresno State Wins the National Championship!!

The cinderella Fresno State Bulldogs beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the third and final game of the 2008 CWS. The (Fresno State) Bulldogs won by the score of 6-1, and capture the school's first ever Baseball title. They became the lowest seeded team to ever win the championship. They were, in fact, the fourth seed in their Region...And keep in mind that there is only four teams in each of the Regions. That's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to the Fresno State Bulldogs!!

That's two against Georgia schools vs. Fresno State. Georgia Tech loss in football and now Georgia in baseball. Bad 2007 - 2008 school year for the Peach State.

Yeah, I'm guessing it hurts UGA a little more to lose the National Championship than it hurt us to lose the Humanitarian Bowl under an interim head coach...

Well, in all fairness, neither of these teams were the best team in college baseball this season... So the regular season is almost invalidated by this type of result, but I guess that's the trade-off you make.

Do you think he'll be able to stay at shortstop or do you think he'll have to shift to third? I've heard that he might lose some of his quickness as his body fills out, and that might necessitate a move to third or second.

He has a better chance of staying at short than the other Beckham does. I heard the same thing Tmil, but he appears to have a good body for shortstop, similar to Jeter although not as tall. He's a college junior, not like he's going to fill out too much more. If I had to make a guess now, I would say no, he will not move.
