If every one of us had to bet our lives on either Jeff Francis or Cole Hamels coming out and striking out the side in the first game of the Rox-Phils series, I bet we'd all be dead right now, since Francis just did it and not Hamels. Redonk.

Yeah, Francis struck out Howard too to start the second. For the record, that's MVP candidate Jimmy Rollins, Shane "The Flyin' Hawaiian" Victorino, Chase Utley, and Ryan Howard striking out against Jeff "Who The Hell am I?" Francis.

Francis has really learned to pitch because of the "hitter's park" he plays in... he is a pretty decent starter...

If Mr. Francis were to choose to leave Colorado for a chance to pitch elsewhere, we'd love for him to consider the Bronx. Dude's got game. Then again, I'm sure that 12 year old kid who struck out 15 in the Little League World Series game could strike out a couple Phillies. Half those guys go to the plate down 0-1.

Rather disconcerting that Utley wore the Golden Sombrero today, something he has done just one other time in his career. Both guys had one bad inning, Hamels the second, and Francis in the fifth, but other than that, Philadelphia didn't really touch him...their only other hit outside that was a single by Hamels.
