Earn Free Edit Points! Help the Bot update player pages with stats and categories we collected!
UPDATED: ALL DONE! THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP
We collected stats, biographical information, and tons of categories for every MLB player, but we need some help updating player pages with this information while at the same time making sure we don't overwrite any content that already exists there.
Here is a list of all players that need to be updated (We already did A through G, and i am starting with H now).
Here is how it works:
- Click "update link" next to the player.
- On the right side you will see the information that already exists.
- On the left side you will see what the new page will look like with all the information we collected.
- For many players, the right side (what the page currently looks like) will not have any new information. It will just have info in the fact box like Date of Birth, Teams, MLB Debut, etc, but we collected all this information also. In this case, you don't have to move any information over. Just click "create" on the left side, to update the page or hit "preview" if you wanna see what itll look like first.
- For a lot of players there will be tons of information, thanks to all your contributions. There will be lengthy bios, a list of categories, career highlights section, etc.. In this case, you need to copy/paste the info from the right side and move it over to the appropriate place on the left (e.g. move the bio on the right and paste it under the "Biography" header on the left). You can copy/paste the categories too, but there is also a "choose categories to copy" on the right side to make it easier.
- Once you copy/paste the info to the left side, just hit "create". (or preview if you want to see what itll look like first)
There are thousands of players, so we really need your help. Its ok if you don't because then Ill just end up leaving DNL wondering how he even managed to hold first place for 6 measly hours. If you want to help (and earn easy edit points), I am asking two things. First, announce what letter you want to work on. A through E is done. I am starting with F now, so let me know in the comments section below what you want to do.
Also, it's not as easy as it sounds, so I ask that first you only do one player, and send me a message on my board so I can check to see whether it was done correctly.
Anyway, I hope we can get some people to help, and let me know if my above instructions are confusing!
