55-27; No, they'll either lose to the Suns in the NBA finals, or lose to the Pistons in an upset in the Conference Finals. (Just a prediction)

60-22 No, agree with Romi that they will at least make the East Finals, but I'm puttin my money on them getting to the NBA Finals.

Before the season, I said they'd win 50 games, but that looks like a "misunderestimation". Now I see them going 57-25, maybe more if the PGA Tour stay healthy all year. In the playoffs, I think they go to the Finals and lose to Phoenix.

a misunderestimation? Either you underestimated or you over estimated or you estimated the proper amount, you can't mis-underestimate. What the hell? Things can't have double value, they either are or they aren't, like "Really Friendly" either you are friendly or you aren't.

It's kind of like "embiggen," from that stirring quote: "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man." Both are perfectly cromulent words.

Ya, that's mind boggling. I don't know why I had to be minused all the way through but I guess it's cause BeanTown has the hypocritcal cane of Bobby Brown up their rear ends.

Um, somehow my response ended up somewhere else. It was:

"Well, we should start calling you Nostradamus because you're already right about that."

But I also kinda like where it ended up the first time, too (see above).  ;-)

62-20 They go to the Finals, and I have no idea what will happen there. The West has too many good teams and I saw 1st the 1987 Celtics go 7 games in the east semis vs the Bucks and then 7 games vs the Pistons, and then lose in 7 to the Lakers (should have been our back-to-back!). I can see whatever team that comes out of the west having to runa similar gauntlet this year. The Finals will be competitive this year.

Anything over 60 in this league this season is on the high end of optimisim. Not that I don't think that the Celts are the best team in the league, cause I do. I just think more then 60 wins is almost unreachable this season, they may be the best team in the league at 60-24 if I were to agree with Pip.

Yeah about 2 teams a year hit the 60 win mark (going back 5 years) and it's about 3 teams a year win over 58 games. It's a higher mark than I realized but I still think it's what will happen.

Good point. If the officials decide the outcome (as they often do), they have a better chance of winning. Now, the league did this with Lebron and then got surprised when he couldn't sell the playoffs. But, that was Cleveland. Surely in Boston (and out), the Celtics have more fans, and they have a World Series, and might have a Super Bowl by then. I expect the Celts fervor to be blinding starting the Tuesday after the Super Bowl, and just prior to Game 1 of the Celtics first playoff game.

I hear you, but wouldn't the Suns have made for a good Finals draw? Why were they punished by the refs/league? I like the Spurs and all but wouldn't having the suns around made the entire playoffs more marketable? But sadly, Stern refuses to fix the problem, because he is a horrible commissioner!

The Spurs have Eva Longoria, for starters, whose show is on the same station that now broadcasts the finals. What do the Suns have to match that? Second, I'm not sure Stern can pull enough strings to make the Suns seem like a credible Western Conference champ. I just don't see Nash as a PTP'er.

Sike!

Because they play most of their games against weak east teams, I'll go with somewhere between 50 and 60. I expect losses during long, west road trips because one of the Big 3 is bound to get hurt. Hopefully for Celtics fans, it's not for good.

Championship? Can we have another option? This is tough . . . I'll go with Eastern Conference semis.

See, injuries won't be as big a problem because they have three stars. For the Heat, when Wade or Shaq goes down, they are F'd. But for the Celtics if one of the three goes down they still have 2 very good players to carry the team. This is part of the reason why it is so difficult to win with 2 stars. Also the long grind of the season is made easier, becuase at any point in time you can have 2 of your stars on the floor and one resting, so you'll be playing at an even level to a team with only 2 stars. then when one of their guys gets in foul trouble or needs to rest you can jump all over them. None of the three for boston will finish in the top 20 on the minutes played list.

I hear you, and would have agreed more except for how they got exposed in the Orlando game. Of course every team will have an off night, but if one if the three goes down, then there are just two, and one of the two must be really on in every game. The two healthy players can't both have an off/mediocre night and expect the Celts to still win. I don't think they have enough scoring options for that.
