Carlos Silva Fan Club may be moving...and Aaron Rowand

According to Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

With the Twins losing again, the Phillies might be able to acquire righthander Carlos Silva from the Twins, baseball sources said last night. Silva, 28, is a groundball pitcher with a 10-13 record and a 4.33 ERA who will be a free agent after this season. The Phillies developed him as a reliever, then traded him in after the 2003 season. They have been talking with the Twins about Silva for a couple of weeks . . .

Perhaps the Carlos Silva Fan Club will be relocated soon?

In other news, the Washington Examiner is reporting that the Phillies are closing in on a deal with centerfielder Aaron Rowand...

Everyone should want this guy on their team. Rowand is having a great year (the 4Ks last night aside) and he gives it his all every night. I hope the Phillies are close to resigning him. One less thing to do this offseason.

Actually, I would prefer the Phillies not to re-sign Rowand, and spend the money on pitching. The Phillies can put Bourne in CF. And to be honest with you, with Bourne's speed, he would be an upgrade.

Hm, if the Phils don't resign Rowand, I wouldn't mind him patrolling center in Wrigley. With him and Soriano in center and left, would mean that Jones, or if they were inclined to shift Pie, would play right. Of course, we do have an abundance of OF guys that don't play much now (Floyd, Murton, Pagan though he is on the DL, Pie) and Eric Patterson is down in Iowa so I am not sure Hendry would go after another outfielder in the offseason.

Last I heard he that Rowand will be returning to Chicago...the White Sox that is.
