Bryant Gumbel, Why is He Still Here?

Exactly what in the heck did the NFL Network see in Bryant Gumbel that he continues to be an announcer? Now you could go on and on about a possibility of Bryant and some bananas, but come on! He gets players names wrong, doesn't know the game, he drags Cris Collinsworth to his level. Can we get a professional like Tom Hammond or Verne Lundquist?

Bryant made so many errors tonight. He would say things like 'loss of three on the play' and it would be a gain of 1, or no gain. And, he screwed up saying how much time was left in the QTR. He sucks.

Let's clear something up. Gumble isn't that bad. Even on his worst night he's still Emmys ahead of Buck and McCarver. There's a big differnce between messing up and making me want to smash an innocent television.

We had a commentator like this. He frequently made mistakes, and got the drivers names wrong, or got mixed up between whether one was winning or losing. He made hundreds of gaffes. He made "prophecies that immediately turn out to be wrong." But he had incredible sporting knowledge, and we think he is the best commentator of all-time in any sport.
