Armchair Hiatus
Unlike some others, if and when the time comes to move on, there will be no 3000 word retirement announcement, no goodbyes, no fanfare, nothing, I'll just vanish like Jimmy Hoffa.
My pending "vacation" from the 'chair is out of frustration with the problems the site has had over the past ten days..it's to the point now it takes longer to view an article than to actually read it.
The last straw for me came last night and into this morning, it literally took longer to post this article than to write and edit. And let's not even talk about the farces that were the World Series live blogs. I'd see something interesting in the third inning, it was the fourth inning by the time I got the site to accept the comment.
If you look through my archives, you'll see I write more baseball related stuff in the off-season than during the season itself. Minor League prospect reviews and previews, Arizona Fall League and Instructional League prospect and game reports. Articles and game reports on UCONN basketball. A two part review of this past season and an early preview of the Yankees in the free agent market. The Puerto Rico Winter League is back after a one year hiatus, and next March comes the second installment of the World Baseball Classic. A lot to look forward to, for sure.
But my patience has run out. I have little free time as it is to spend online, when I spend more time hitting the refresh button there's a problem. I'll still be around, checking messages, hoping by some miracle of a good day so I can catch up on stuff, but until the bugs have been all exterminated, I'll be elsewhere where it doesn't take ten minutes to view an article, and even longer to comment on it.
KD

Andy: The cost of doing business.
Michael: Yes, well. It is a big loss. Dwight was the top salesman...
Andy: Was the top salesman...
Michael: I said 'was'.
Andy: [chuckles] Addition by subtraction.
Michael: What does that even mean? That is impossible.
Andy: Mmmm. Yeah you're right.
Michael: But, there is some good news. Oscar is back. Addition by addition. So we are going to have a big party today to welcome him back and hopefully that will lift everybody's spirits.
It was on the tee and I had to hit it down the fairway.
Have a nice vacation dude, maybe you can figure out why UConn's football team sucks. ;-)
