I saw the number of comments and was like "darn, no wonder the page took a little extra longer to load". Then I just had to look up the record to see if it was close and it blew away the competition.

I never really found out a reason why they're so long, but I have now figured out why these are the only things that Sportscenter can talk about...

Part of it (if not all of it) is because the teams are usually 1-2 (in whichever order) in the league in pitches seen per at-bat. That seriously increases the length of the game, since each at bat takes that much longer to end.

my above to romi's about how long the game is this to falcons question on why so long both the red sox and yankees are at the tops in the mlb at pitches seen per hitter and they both can have a huge comeback with a snap of a finger they both make the game longer.

How come the Red Sox couldn't come back and win then? That would've made the game SO much better.

Too bad the Chargers/Pats game broke the record with 428 on Sunday, that record only stood for 2 days.
