Are the Aussies serious?

Posted by Baltimoresports247

As I'm sitting here watching the USA Basketball team embarass another country, I can't help but notice these Australian players continually talking trash or pumping their fist when they make a good play.

Hey...kangaroo fucker...you're down by 30 points...keep your mouth shut and don't forget to pull up your pants when LeBron James is finished with you.

The Aussies were also continually trying to pick fights with the American players. Considering the Australian players involved were usually not key players, I'm assuming they were attempting the same bush league tactics as Russia did a few Olympics back.

Too much vegemite perhaps?

Not enough vegemite sandwiches.

And yes, that was a Men at Work reference.

Vegemite is gross. I'd rather chug a gallon of worcestershire sauce. I mean, I'm not a picky eater at all (more Montana tendergroin, please!!!) and I really do like worcestershire sauce but you catch the drift.

The word makes it sound worse than it really is. I mean, you've eaten a hot dog, right?

I'd rather eat a hot dog (MMMmmm... more anus, reproductive glands and hoof than ever!) than vegemite. It's like buillion cubes smashed into Elmer's paste on toast - except saltier and twice as adhesive.

What do you want them to do, bow down and kiss their rings? Australians have a history of not taking any gruff from anyone, athletics or otherwise, dating back to at least World War I. If they gave it back to their British commanding officers at Gallipoli, they certainly aren't going to back down from some American basketball players.

"What do you want them to do, bow down and kiss their rings?" Um...no...I want them to keep their mouths shut when they're getting their asses handed to them...its bad sportsmanship and it makes them look like idiots...

If you want your favorite outclassed team to act that way, fine. I'd prefer my team to fight back hard to the finish no matter what and shake their hands after the final buzzer. It's not bad sportsmanship, it's just sports. Sorry mate, but the days of Dream Team competitors asking for autographs before the game are over.

"It's not bad sportsmanship, it's just sports." What? No, that's not sports. You're so wrong. Obviously I've hit a nerve with you. First of all, the US team has acted very classy. You want to talk about having no class? How about trying to start a fight with an opposing player when you're down 30 points just to spite them.

No nerves here, but you might want to do something about that anger problem. It's your expletive-laden post. I said you want your team to act that way, that was fine, while you're labeling everything right and wrong. And you're the one handing out minuses. No rational discussion here, so I'm moving on.

No anger here...yes, I am labeling things right and wrong...it's my opinion...as far as our discussion being irrational, I think you'll have to take a look in the mirror to see who's fault that is...

So are you saying that if you just scored a basket on Lebron, Kobe and company you would just turn around and go play D. I know I would be doing back flips if it was me. Nothing wrong with celebrating a hard fought point. Taytay is right, that's just sports.

Dudes I'm not really talking about the celebrating...I mean it bothers me a bit but that part IS just sports...the fight-instigating (sp?) etc. IS NOT just sports...and either way, they were down by 30 points!

Now if I (me, personally...a washed-up college athlete) scored a bucket on LeBron I would be doing back flips too. But if you're an Olympic athlete, act like you've been there before...

But, just to clarify, it's the fight-instigating that bothers me...

To clarify, your post above make no mention of fight instigating. You talk of trash talking and fist pumping and how it's unacceptable because they are getting so badly beaten. You then go on to make comments about how the Australian team is into beastiality and (I assume) anal penetration.

BTW, I agree that they shouldn't be over excited to accomplish some mundane plays, but maybe it's just their way of trying to stay fired up. Imagine how hard that would be when you basically know, you know, that you're going to get beat.

I can't help but notice these Australian players continually talking trash or pumping their fist when they make a good play.

England play Australia much more than the United States at team sports. We play them at cricket, for The Ashes, and they are known by us to be full of themselves at times. Generally though, the cricket is a very sporting contest, part of its appeal. It wasn't always that way though, a few unsavoury incidents in the history of our cricketing rivalry, which dates back to 1877, but nonetheless, the Aussies are renowned for being sure of themselves. To be fair, in cricket, they have every reason to be.

As for Americans calling Australians arrogant, three words spring to mind. Pot. Kettle. Black.

See, I didn't call you classless. I simply pointed out how much of a hypocritical statement you made by classlessly denouncing Australia's classlessness. You didn't show a shred of class in your whining about Aussies celebrating, then DEMANDED that they show more class. I don't know if you're classy, or not. Frankly, I don't care either way. Your words (which are the only things you can be accurately assessed on in a forum such as this) were hypocritical and classless whines, in my opinion.

And because we're in America, which is so obviously awesome, I can have AND express my opinion. If you want to tell me to keep my mouth shut (or my typing fingers idle, more appropriately), then you're in the wrong country.

And besides... It was a joke dude... relax.
