Anybody watch South Park Last Night? Are they right about the media attention for HIV?
All morning I've been trying to write an article about last nights South Park Episode: Tonsil Trouble. In case some of you didn't watch it, Cartman goes into the hospital to have his tonsils removed and accidently becomes infected with HIV. You can read the rest here:

Since the South Park episode included Magic Johnson as the only man who is immune to HIV and AIDS (they later found out it is because he sleeps with all of his money and that the cure is to inject $180,000 into their bloodstreams) I wanted to try to tie in sports and this episode and I know that it is extremely important to a user here.
The point of the South Park episode was that in today's world it seems like HIV/AIDS has become unimportant(especially in regards to the media) eventhough it still runs rampant throughout the rest of the world. It's "old news". HIV out, cancer IN.
"Rather than the disease itself, the creators analyze the media treatment of AIDS. The disease has fallen out of favor and is not really in popular culture anymore. Perhaps it's because we better understand and can control the disease, or perhaps it's just an old hat. In either case, it's really not in the spotlight anymore." for www.tvsquad.com

Anyway, do you guys feel like this is true? Does Matt and Trey have a great valid point here? The reason I bring this up on armchairgm is because I do know the personal story with regards to member Manny Stiles. He even brought it up when discussing his book he is writing. If South Park is right and if the world is feeling this way perhaps we at armchairgm should do something about it: perhaps start up a charity or a fundraiser? Since Manny is such a respected member here and we all know how strong his feelings are towards this manner perhaps we could do more than just "bang away all day here" and actually make a difference in the world.
What do you guys think? I'm "HIV positive" that I want to do something about this- are you?
