All Sports, All You

Yes, this is another one of those gay pieces talking about how the ‘Chair is going to the shitter because of flames and troll wars. But this is also more than that. This is action. Well, action through words at least.

Manny Stiles is gone. He was clearly one of our best sports related contributors. This website is on a very slippery slope to turning into nothing but a stomping ground for internet “terrorists” simply out to boost their own egos.

And I’m not singling out anyone because almost all of us are guilty. We all talk a big game and try to be someone we’re not, which is okay if we can keep are focus on what we’re here for: our love of sports.

The only way to save ArmchairGM is to refocus back to what we originally were; a place where you can share your sports knowledge and discuss, talk (sports related) trash, and embrace our common interest. Justin and BigPPup are doing a good thing by drafting some rules of conduct, as that’s probably something that should’ve been in place to begin with, seeing as there are immature people out there who will not always act civilized.

But now, I’m here to make a pledge. I’m going back to the old days and I will only contribute to sports related items. I love this place and most of the people here and I don’t want to simply leave it or watch it disintegrate. I will never, ever even comment on troll or flame wars, or get into un-sports-related pissing contests (I’m game for Boston-New York or Boston-Philly pissing contests though!). My contributions to the ‘Chair will only be for the betterment of the site, and to enhance its wealth of sports knowledge.

Obviously things like what JuT and BigP are doing are different. They are clearly only moving the site in a positive direction and what they are doing now should be embraced. However, there is no need for any of the rest of the shit going on.

So this is my pledge. This is the last time I will ever discuss or acknowledge trolls or flames. I’ve realized that any response, positive or negative, is simply fueling the fire. There will still be assholes and people who try to bring us down, but we need to realize our common goal and not let them win.

People will probably try to turn this thread into another war. Do not acknowledge them. In fact, there is no need to even comment at all. If you agree with me, all you have to do is simply edit the page and sign your name below mine and you will pledge to never respond ever again, in any way, to a flame war. It’s the ONLY way to make it go away. We’ve tried other things, and NOTHING has worked. So, now we need to join together and say enough is enough. Instead of paying attention to these wars, edit the encyclopedia, write an article, or share your sports knowledge through comments. Sign the pledge and follow through. This is the only way to make the ‘Chair a much better place.
