A Farewell to Niteowl.

This is extremely sad, and it really crushed me for him to say this to me in a message, but the man who we have known as Niteowl049 (Niteowl for short) is leaving AGM. This is the message he sent me:

"May not be at ArmchairGM more than another day as we have received 48 hour eviction notice from our apartment. Unless a miracle happens I have written my last article since there is no internet out on the streets. You are welcome to tell anyone if you want if I have not posted past Saturday. Have enjoyed your opinions and comments. Wish I knew half as much about baseball as you do when I was your age."

It is really sad to see him go, and it's gonna be really hard to not see another episode of Baseball Notebook.

So, on behalf of all the members of AGM, I'd like to say THANK YOU, Niteowl, and farewell. We will NEVER, I repeat, NEVER forget you.

This is absolute bullshit that a landlord would evict over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Jesus fucking Christ (sorry I'm not in the self-censoring mode) but surely a sports website full of diverse users and LAWYERS can offer this guy some form of emergency help.

Dan, MJD, Warden - ANYONE with a law degree willing to drop a dime and at least see if it is possible to delay the eviction?

Furthermore, Niteowl is great at providing these recaps. We also have here MLN (yeah you buddy that likes to post ad offers for nothing here) with a minor hockey league start up ezine/website. ANY CHANCE TO GIVE NITE-OWL A PAYING SHOT?????

Finally, where the hell is Nite-Owl going to live? If he is willing to provide an address to wherever he will end up, how about everyone here chipping in whatever they can?

If we cannot at least try and help a guy like NiteOwl, then what does that say about ourselves?

Think it over as you gorge yourself with food this afternoon among friends and family....

If anyone here is on the 'Chair RIGHT NOW, please "comment-in" ASAP to brainstorm. I don't care about past feuds, stupid fights, etc. - this involves a good guy that everyone respects.

In the meantime, I am going to work on something to highlight Nite-Owl's work here. If enough people VOTE for it, it might get noticed more on the web and maybe, JUST MAYBE somebody will take further notice.

We can sit on our asses and do nothing or we can try to make a difference.

TB, what if we forward this story to his local news station, if anyone knows the city he lives in. Maybe if enough people give him enough support the News Station will go put pressure on the asshole landlord and buy our guy a little time? Just a thought.

NO WAY!!! I recieved a message about NiteOwl, and I am uterly dumbfounded... I havent been on in a while, and I will be back once everything slows down, but this is horrible news... I wish that I were in a position to help, and I will do as the other post says and send the email to those people, but that is all I can really do... NiteOwl, thank you for everything you have ever done here, and my best wishes for your future...

Falcon, thanks for supporting the effort, your e-mail will go a long way. If we get those 10 people to get a bunch of e-mails on the same topic they will have to talk to each other about it. The hope being that they conclude that this is worthy of mentioning on the nightly news thus stirring a local outcry. It's a shot in the dark, but it's better then sitting around and saying 'wish we could help, good luck'.
