Lo Boutwell (Leon A. Boutwell) was born on October 3, 1892 in Orr, North Dakota. After going to high school at Mechanicsburg Academy (Mechanicsburg, PA), Boutwell attended Carlisle Indian. Boutwell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1922 with the Oorang Indians. He played for the Oorang Indians for his entire 2 year career.
