Lloyd Cardwell (Lloyd R. Cardwell) was born on April 19, 1913 in Republic, Kansas. After going to high school at Seward (NE), Cardwell attended the University of Nebraska. Cardwell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1937 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1940 was Lloyd Cardwell's best year, as he picked off 4 passes.
