Interesting Kobe Bryant Better Get MVP This Year!
(Submitted March 24, 2008)
Kobe Bryant is and has been for the past 4 or 5 seasons considered the best player in the NBA. His fans, his peers, retired greats, and even Michael Jordan himself have acknowledged him as the best player in the game. And yet still no MVP? You gotta be kidding me!!!!

That's horrible. Let sleeping dogs lie, or go back and look at the police evidence(and the womans past history). Anyway, Kobe does deserve the MVP at this point. His team has one of the best records in the NBA and he plays in the unbelievable Western Conference. He was doing what LeBron is doing 4 years ago, again in the West, and people called him a one-man show. (Although LBJ's numbers are great) If the Lakers finish the year in the top 3 spots in the West, and Kobe continues to play team basketball while dominating on both ends of the court he desrves the MVP award. Unanimously

Chris Paul has presented MORE than enough evidence to prove otherwise...

Chris Paul is having an unbelievable season. The difference is that Kobe plays BOTH offense and defense at an All-Star level everynight. Paul doesn't guard the other teams go-to-guy every night either. Plus, the Hornets are not really a title caliber team, and that hurts him. They may be showing well, but in all reality, they don't have much of a shot at making it out of the West. Plus, Kobe has been the best player in the league for 4 years or so now, so it is overdue.

MVP awards aren't lifetime achievement awards, they are seasonal awards - Paul is having the best season. LeBron would be #2...

Doesn't play defense? Who is leading the league in steals per game? (by A LOT)

Not a championship caliber team? (Um, check the standings) - Or as you say it, the Lakers are "showing well". I don't think anyone is scared of the Lakers in the playoffs with a Gasol that will be playing his way back with a tender ankle and an unproven Andrew Bynum (who may or may not be) coming back to mess the rotation up...

And despite one guy being a point guard, the ball hog averages almost a whole turnover more per game.

Sorry, I realize you're pulling for your boy but MVPs aren't usually handed to guys who spent all of training camp bitching and whining to be traded.

Pssst - Chris Paul is shooting more than 3% better than Kobe from the field AND from 3pt land, as well...

Get off the Chris Paul bandwagon. He's having a great season. Sure. But name one legitimate reason why he should be MVP over Kobe Bryant without sounding stupid!

He mentioned several great reasons above. I'll recap for you.
  • 3% better shooting percentage
  • Almost one less turnover per game
  • And leading the league in steals

Chris Paul has done more for his team -- that has floated in and out from being the best (record-wise) -- this season than anyone... The Lakers have the players to win with or without Kobe. Of course they are better with Kobe on the floor, but they can still play. Without Paul the Hornets would be lost offensively and he does create turnovers on defense as well. Paul is MVP, if you don't agree go listen to what ESPN tells you to think some more because you apparently can't come up with your own opinions...

Packers 27, Ravens 14. It wasn't pretty: 310 total penalty yards and 7 total turnovers, but the Packers stay alive in the NFC Wild Card race.
