Clutch only exists in retrospect. Clutch is not an element capable of existing in the present or future. I think a better word for clutch is called "luck".

so.. if clutch is luck.... then choking is bad luck?

That being said, its hard to deny being in that situation and not only performing but doing it with knot in your stomach or the jitters or what have you... or overcoming them, but i assume everyone knows what i'm talking about...

In cold weather, you have to choke first before using the clutch.

manny... i am assuming you don't beleive in a player being clutch. you don't think there are players who's focus and desire to excel heighten at a peak momment. while other players focus on how they are feeling. butterflys, quick breathing...etc

you saying its luck that situations like those happen? i think i understand your point when it comes to baseball. the chances to come up in the 9th inning with the game on the line i agree with you is luck. but a closer knows he will be up with the game on the line everytime he comes in. A QB knows he will have to take his team down the field in the 4th quarter. it seems pretty weird that the same people are in those situations alot. (MJ, jeter, ortiz montana)
