Facing jail time on his infamous gun possession case, Plaxico Burress was released today by the New York Giants.

Each case is separate (and I admit, I know very little about the Pacman situation) but with respect to Burress:
He violated one of the strictest Gun Control laws in the country; one that is a felony with due to the fact that he didn't have a permit (at least we haven't seen one yet).
And NY State's gun law carries a 3.5 year minimum sentence, though I don't see him serving all that time because of crowding...
