Born on December 13, 1935 in Hollis, Oklahoma, Lindy McDaniel (Lyndall Dale McDaniel) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals over the course of his 21 year career. McDaniel broke into the bigs on September 2, 1955 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.40 ERA in 116.1 innings pitched in 1956, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Lindy McDaniel's best season was 1960, when he posted a 2.09 ERA, won 12 games, notched 26 saves and struck out 105 batters.
