Lima time - NYMets Style

According to WFAN Sports Radio 660 and MetsBlog, the Mets and free-agent RHP Jose Lima have agreed to a minor-league deal. Rickey Henderson and Lima Time, who wouldn't buy tickets to that show

Pitching for the Kansas City Royals last season, Lima was astounding 5–16 with a 6.99 ERA. In 2005, however, he tossed 170 innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers going 13–5 with 4.07 ERA

Lima, 33, is a streaky pitcher. He can get on a roll and make you smile, such as his final six starts with the Dodgers in 2005, when he posted a 2.95 ERA. He can also fall apart rather quickly, such as last season when he allowed 33 runs in May.

This is the quintessential lottery-pick signing. Good luck, lima…

I would say this signing replaces the hotness lost when they traded Anna Benson. From that perspective, it was a deal they had to do.

I think Lima is way over the hill, but giving him a minor league contract is not a bad idea, you never know, he may become rejuvenated and sneak into the rotation as the #5 starter, or if another starter gets injured, he may be able to be a spot starter
