Born on February 28, 1899 in Bowie, Texas, Lil Stoner (Ulysses Simpson Grant Stoner) played for the Detroit Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 9 year career. Stoner broke into the bigs on April 15, 1922 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 7.04 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched in 1922, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Lil Stoner's best season was 1927, when he posted a 3.98 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 63 batters.
