Life RFC
[edit] Founding and History
Since its beginning in 1980, the Life University Rugby Club has grown to be recognized as one of the nation's premier teams. In only its second year of competition, Life was crowned as the national collegiate runner-up. In 1984, 1985, and 1986 the club was named National Graduate & Professional Schools Champion. In 1986 Life left the college division and entered premier club competition which features the country's best rugby clubs. Since that time Life has advanced to the USA East Championships every season, winning the title in 1987 and 1994. In 1987 the club finished third in the nation and runner-up in 1994 with a record of 33-1. In 1997 Life became a charter member of the USA Rugby Super League. The league is divided into an east and west division, with Life finishing second in the east for three straight seasons. In the summer of 2000 Life claimed their first ever Super League National Championship. In 2002 Life joined the Men's Division I bracket and has gone to Tournament of 16 every year.
This year the team consists of 40 dedicated members who won't stop short of Nationals Finals.
[edit] The Current Team
The Life University Rugby Club consists of 40 scholarship and local rugby players from varied background, from national and internationally recognized player to individuals who are experiencing competitive rugby for the first time.
This year we are running two sides for extra play, the Running Eagles side and the Adisi side. This gives everyone game time and valuable experience.
LRFC is one of the only clubs in the United States that offers rugby scholarships at Life University in both graduate and undergraduate studies.
