Lew Riggs (Lewis Sidney Riggs) was born on April 22, 1910 in Mebane, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 28, 1934 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1935, his rookie year, he hit .278 with 5 home runs and 46 RBI. Riggs played for the Cincinnati Reds and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Lew Riggs's best season was 1935, when he hit for a .278 average.
