Lew McCarty (George Lewis McCarty) was born on November 17, 1888 in Milton, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on August 30, 1913 for the Brooklyn Superbas. In 1914, his rookie year, he hit .254 with 1 home run and 30 RBI. McCarty played for the Brooklyn Superbas, New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Lew McCarty's best season was 1916, when he hit for a .339 average.
