Lew Mayne (Lewis Elwood Mayne) was born on March 21, 1920 in Cuero, Texas. After going to high school at Cuero (TX), Mayne attended the University of Texas. Mayne made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1946 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Baltimore Colts, Cleveland Browns and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 3 year career.

Most people believe that 1946 was Lew Mayne's best year.
