Let Isiah fix this mess

It is only fitting that one who originally creates a mess should indeed be the one to clean it. Isiah Thomas has gone through Don Chaney, Lenny Wilkens and now Larry Brown. He has 125 million in guaranteed money to be dished out to the likes of players such as Malik Rose, Maurice Taylor, and Jerome James. How many head coaches does a franchise have to go through before they assess the effectiveness or in this case, damn near retardation of the front office. What other coach can Isiah Thomas hire or even convince to come coach this group of individuals. And I will keep referring to them as "group of individuals" until they actually become a team on and off the court. The inept dysfunction of this franchise existed long before Larry Brown took the head coaching position. It was evident during Lenny Wilken's tenure. Lenny Wilkens stated during a recent interview with the Seattle Times that he immediately regretted becoming the coach when he did not see eye to eye with Isiah's decisions and was not allowed to give any input. Larry Brown and Lenny Wilkens weren't just born in the basketball world five minutes ago. Isiah dug himself a hole as deep as the Grand Canyon and now he'll have to carry the shovel.

Let him coach the near uncoachable Stephon Marbury. Let's see if Marbury's declaration of going back to "Starbury" gets him past the first round of the playoffs. Or a .500 season. Or will it be like his original declaration during the Knicks-Nets series that he was the best PG in the league before his team eventually got swept like dust off the living room floor. And wasn't it some time later that he said he didn't want to be a PG any more? If Isiah can't get Marbury to be a PG, then it's not likely that anyone else will.

Let him bear the responsibility of finding the best way to turn this "group of individuals" into some sort of team. Let's see the master plan for the backcourt of Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis.

Or how quickly he'll cut Jerome James and then slap himself for 30 million dollars of waste. Let him kick himself when the Chicago Bulls come to town and the #2 pick the New York Knicks threw to pasture is making them regret their decision over and over again.

I welcome the opportunity for Isiah to experience upfront the mistakes that he has made, the puzzle pieces that don't fit. He'll also have to experience the humiliation of giving half of the group of individuals guaranteed money no matter if they go 0-82.

The Knicks have hired head coach after head coach and fired head coach after head coach. Yet the endless level of crappy play only got worse and worse. It's kind of like moving a turd from the front of the house to the back yard. It still stinks.

If Isiah didn't know before, he definitely will now.

It's time to start a countdown for when the New Jersey Nets come to Brooklyn.
