Let's Not Be Too Quick to Judge Canseco

Before Congress elected to get involved, when Major League Baseball 's denial of its steroid problem was in full swing, Jose Canseco and the late Ken Caminiti were virtually alone in telling the world about the widespread use of performance enhancers in baseball, as well as the MLB's role as an enabler. Let's get this out of the way; Jose Canseco is a self-serving media whore. However, he is not to be totally discounted. One-time MLB star Jose Canseco will releasing a sequel to his steroids-in-baseball expose, "Juiced", and apparently it contains something (maybe nothing? who knows?) regarding Alex Rodriguez and steroids. Sure, Jose Canseco has become a caricature of himself, willing to do anything for money and publicity, but we all have to admit that the guy knows what he's talking about. When Canseco first announced his intention to write a tell-all book about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in professional baseball, it was portrayed as the rantings of a madman. Say what we will about Canseco and his motivation for writing these books, the man's assertions have been spot-on. I have no intention of prematurly indicting A-Rod as a steroid abuser, but it just might be worth our time to hear what Canseco has to say. By no means am I contending that every word to come out of his mouth is accurate, but we should assess each of Jose Canseco's claims on their own merit. I am personally of the belief that Alex Rodriguez's greatness is a result of his own natural ability and hard work, but given his let's see what Jose Canseco's got before we brush off his latest claim. He's been right so far!
