Born on April 21, 1962 in Dallas, Texas, Les Lancaster (Lester Wayne Lancaster) played for the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 7 year career. Lancaster broke into the bigs on April 7, 1987 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 4.90 ERA in 132.1 innings pitched in 1987, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Les Lancaster's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1991, when he posted a 3.52 ERA and struck out 102 batters. However, others believe that it was 1989, when he posted a 1.36 ERA and struck out 56 batters.
