Leroy Stanton (Leroy Bobby Stanton) was born on April 10, 1946 in Latta, South Carolina. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 1970 for the New York Mets. In 1972, his rookie year, he hit .251 with 12 home runs and 39 RBI. Stanton played for the New York Mets, California Angels and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 9 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Leroy Stanton's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1977, when he slugged 27 home runs, hit for a .275 average and knocked in 90 runs. However, others believe that it was 1975, when he knocked in 82 runs.
