Leroy Mitchell (Leroy Mitchell) was born on September 22, 1944 in Wharton, Texas. After going to high school at Training (Wharton, TX), Mitchell attended Texas Southern University. Mitchell made his professional debut in the AFL in 1967 with the Boston Patriots. He played in the AFL for 2 years, playing for the Boston Patriots the entire time. Mitchell also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Denver Broncos and Houston Oilers over the course of his 4 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1968 was Leroy Mitchell's best year, as he picked off 7 passes.
