Leinart nowhere to be found at Cards camp

Vote

Still unable to come to terms with Arizona management, rookie QB Matt Leinart was a no-show at the Cardinals' training camp on Sunday. "We have an excellent deal on the table," said coach Dennis Green, frustrated with Leinart and his agent, Tom Condon, over the impasse. By all indications, the two sides are still quite far apart and it is unknown when Leinart will join the team.

Leinart's fellow rookie and former USC teammate, Reggie Bush, also held out this summer, but reached a deal this weekend after missing two days of training camp. Cardinals QB Kurt Warner — expected to be Leinart's mentor this season — stressed the importance of training camp to rookies: "As a young quarterback, you never want to miss any time, especially as short as training camp is and the limited number of snaps that are there to be had," Warner says. "I know [Leinart] wants to be here, and we all want to have him here. I'm sure he's only a couple of hours away, just waiting for that call to come up. Hopefully it won't be too long."

Leinart is a pretty boy who doesn't have the heart to play football. The Cards wasted a pick on him, and it will cost them dearly, in the years to come.

obviously you are unaware of Arizona's track record... even if he sucks, he'll still be considered an improvement over some past draft choices... Watch out! These aren't your older brother's Cardinals!!!

I totally agree. Leinart sucked at USC. He couldn't win games, and he certainly never got them a national championship.

An "Excellent Deal" by Arizona Cardinals standards probably consists of $50,000 a year, and a free happy meal at McDonalds after every game.

Which, incidentally, is what USC gave Leinart last year.

It's interesting that this hasn't gotten as much coverage as Bush not signing. You'd think people would be more interested about Leinart holding out.

if Reggie slipped to #10... little would be said of him.

Yeah, he slipped, but he was still a top ten pick that is expected to be an impact NFL player. I think any top 10 player holding out is news.

This is important. As long as Leinart signs, he will start around week 6 after Kurt Warner separates his shoulder opening his car door.

I think it'll happen sooner...around week 4, he's gonna dislocate his shoulder lifting his arm up in the shower to wash his armpit.

Any top 10 skill position player you mean. Donte Whitner still has not signed a contract, and he barely gets any mention. Anyone drafted in the first round is expected to be an "impact player" (despite the absurdity of that term), and the news should cover it. Reggie Bush is one of the more dynamic players to come out of college in recent news, of course he gets more face time. Yes, its news, but if Leinhart wasn't Mr. Stubble Socialite Boy-Toy QB, he would be at Page 32 along with Donte Whitner.

Does Leinart really want to play here? I can't imagine Mr. B wouldn't give this kid the moon. I think something is fishy
