Born on April 21, 1902 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lefty Weinert (Philip Walter Weinert) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees over the course of his 9 year career. Weinert broke into the bigs on September 24, 1919 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.40 ERA in 166.2 innings pitched in 1922, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Lefty Weinert's best season was 1922, when he posted a 3.40 ERA and struck out 58 batters.
