Born on December 14, 1889 in Derry, New Hampshire, Lefty Tyler (George Albert Tyler) played for the Boston Doves, Boston Rustlers, Boston Braves and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 12 year career. Tyler broke into the bigs on September 20, 1910 with the Boston Doves, and put up a 5.06 ERA in 165.1 innings pitched in 1911, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Lefty Tyler's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1918, when he posted a 2.00 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 102 batters. However, others believe that it was 1916, when he posted a 2.02 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 117 batters.
