Lefty Marr (Charles W. Marr) was born on September 19, 1862 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on October 3, 1886 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1889, his rookie year, he hit .306 with 1 home run and 75 RBI. Marr played for the Cincinnati Reds, Columbus Colts and Cincinnati Porkers over the course of his 4 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Lefty Marr's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1889, when he stole 29 bases, hit for a .306 average and knocked in 75 runs. However, others believe that it was 1890, when he stole 44 bases, hit for a .298 average and knocked in 73 runs.
