Born on September 5, 1883 in Trenton, Illinois, Lefty Leifield (Albert Peter Leifield) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 12 year career. Leifield broke into the bigs on September 3, 1905 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 2.89 ERA in 56 innings pitched in 1905, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Lefty Leifield's best season was 1906, when he posted a 1.87 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 111 batters.
