Lefty Davis (Alfonzo DeFord Davis) was born on February 4, 1875 in Nashville, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on April 18, 1901 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1901, his rookie year, he hit .291 with 2 home runs and 40 RBI. Davis played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Superbas, New York Highlanders and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Lefty Davis's best season was 1901, when he stole 26 bases and hit for a .291 average.
