Lee Artoe (Lee Robert Artoe) was born on March 2, 1917 in Tacoma, Washington. After going to high school at Lincoln (Tacoma, WA), Artoe attended Santa Clara University and Univeristy of California. Artoe made his professional debut in the NFL in 1940 with the Chicago Bears. He played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Chicago Bears the entire time. Artoe also played in the AAFC for 3 years, playing for the Los Angeles Dons and Baltimore Colts over the course of his 3 year AAFC career.

Most people believe that 1942 was Lee Artoe's best year.
