Lebron James, the Next Michael Jordan? NOT!

Lebron James is 6’7” man child. At 21 years old he has accomplished more in his life than most people can even dream.

First and foremost, he was a superstar at the age of 15 and bound for the NBA. His senior year, he was on national TV as a high school player, drove a $50, 000 hummer and was followed around by all the major sports news markets who were stating that he would be the next Michael Jordan. He was drafted out of high school with the number one pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers and in 4 years the youngest player to ever lead his team to a NBA final.

The reasons he is compared to Michael Jordan is the way he conducts himself on and off the court and knowing with the intelligence he can be the best. He was the first to ever sign a 90 million dollar contract with Nike. In turn to this Nike bought out Converse so that they could court him as King James.

People in the media and in the world are comparing him to the great Michael Jordan, but there never will be another player with the drive to win of MJ. The reasons for the comparisons are Lebron sports the #23 and his flashy dunks. Reasons he will never be close to the great MJ, Michael at least went to college for 3 years and learned the game of basketball and skills of life that can never be taught by jumping to the NBA. MJ also has been to two Olympic games, 1984 in LA, won a gold medal and 1992 Spain which was part of the best team ever created. Whereas Lebron never has a chance to learn the team game of basketball and winning a NCAA Title, not to mention his youth and degree to fall back on. Lebron has had a chance to play on an Olympic team, but he never will have a chance to play with the greatest team ever assembled.

Now I am a Lebron James fan, but there will never be another player that even comes close to touching the Great Michael Jeffery Jordan. If anyone disagrees, give me your thoughts, feelings, opinions…because I am going to argue my opinion til the day I die.

May the Force be with you,

Now that's impressive, a guy at your age still dominating a whiffle ball league. You must be the Roger Clemens of that league (last year's edition, not this year's).

This over the top adulation of Michael Jordan borders on ridiculous. LeBron has already accomplished more at his age in the NBA than Jordan did at a similar age. Let's see how this plays out before saying never.

He's acomplished more off the court and at trivial records. The All time points title is not the home run record, hell its owned by Karem. Lebron will never be on the same level as Jordan till he wins several NBA titles.

So essentially, what you're saying is that no matter what LeBron does on the court, if Danny Ferry can't surround him with the same kind of talent that MJ had surrounding him, then LeBron can never be as good as Michael? So, essentially, it's totally out of LeBron's control whether he's as good as Michael.

Agreed Woods. King James is compared to MJ because of he crazy good talent, not because he wears #23 or because of his "Flashy" Dunks. He wears 23 because he walks the walk. I think it is too early to tell who will end up being better, but I really don't think this article was very well thought out. Basically it says MJ was the best ever, Period.

Jordan is still the best I've ever seen, but I agree that the "there will NEVER be another MJ" talk is pretty absurd. When was it decided that no one could ever approach MJ? He set a very high standard, but just like Dr. J, Elgin Baylor and Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan won't be the "greatest ever" forever.

To say that Lebron has accomplished more at similar ages might be a true statement, but it is not necessarily an accuarte one. Lebron has been in the league for 4 years. At this point in time, MJ would be a rookie and Lebron is heading on year 5 I believe. Of course he has accomplisehd more. Actually ,you know what. No he hasnt. At hte same point in time in their lives, MJ has a National Championship and a Gold medal. What does LBJ have? None of those. You are comparing apples to oranges. LeBron is a fantastic player, but there will only be one MJ.

Young bucks that don't remember Jordan should refrain from comparing them. LeBron is a WAY better athlete, but Jordan's sole purpose for being was "to win"...

Lets not write the story of Lebron's career when he's got 10+ years remaining in it. Lebron would ideally be more of a Magic Johnson type player than a Micheal Jordan type, but unfortunately he has no talent around him, and everyone wants him to be Micheal. Give Lebron guys like Worthy, Kareem and Byron Scott and we'll see what he could do.

The biggest issue I have with the LeBron-MJ comparisons is that their games are even that similar. As tired as people may be of hearing it, Kobe is the closest we've seen to MJ. As for LeBron, if you look at his game, his athletic ability and the ability to dominate from the wing, he's more reminicent of Dominique Wilkins than Jordan. The biggest reason that all of the Jordan comparisons are lame is because the people doing the comparing are too lazy too do any homework and come up with apt comparisons. Just because a guy a quick, athletic and between 6'5" and 6'8", it doesn't mean that Michael Jordan is the only comparison.

Agreed. Lebron is still young, so these deficienceis can still be remedied, but Lebron needs to develop a much more consistent jumper and really needs to work on his defense before he can seriously be compared to Jordan. To me this most impressive thing about Jordan- other than the already mentioned ability to will his team to a win- was how well he adapted his game to his changing body. Yeah when he was young, he could jsut rely on that great athletic ability to get him by, but as he aged and lost a step, he developed that great fade away jumper, and bulked up in the weight room to be able to play great, physical defense. Until we see how Lebron progresses as a professional and develops his game, any comparisons are really meaningless. For what its worth, I agree that Kobe at this point is a better comparison because we've seen him elevate his defense, and because he actually plays the same position as MJ, but I might just be biased.

I gotta agree with Sportsdork36 here. There is only MJ (well, besides "Magic Johnson"), but there is only Michael Jordan. Jordan changed the game with the way that he played and has inspired many people to play right now, including James.
