Lavern Torgeson (LaVern Earl Torgeson) was born on February 28, 1929 in LaCrosse, Washington. After going to high school at LaCrosse (WA), Torgeson attended Washington State Universtiy. Torgeson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1951 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1952 was Lavern Torgeson's best year, as he picked off 5 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
