Lavar Glover (LaVar Glover) was born on December 17, 1978 in Dayton, Ohio. After going to high school at Jefferson (Dayton, OH), Glover attended the University of Cincinnati. After redshirting as a freshman walk-on, he made the squad and spent four full seasons with the Bearcats in Conference USA. Started all 12 games as a senior recording a career-high 47 tackles and one interception return for a TD. Made a total of 105 tackles in his career at Cincinnati and started 22 games overall. Personal: In addition to football, Glover also plays golf, baseball and basketball. Before each game, he will walk around the field imagining a big play. During the off season, Glover works with youth at the Children's Home of Northern Kentucky.
Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL in the 7th round (212th overall). Released by Pittsburgh and subsequently signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on their practice squad. Saw action in 2 NFL games with the Bengals in 2002 and also spent time with the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos. Played with the Orlando Predators and Columbus Destroyers in the Arena Football League in 2004 where he had 2 interceptions and 50 tackles with 3 pass knockdowns.
Joining the Lions as a free agent, Glover dressed for the first three regular season games before getting a starting nod in Week 4 at Edmonton (July 7/06) and excelling at his position for the remainder of the season as well as the West Championship and Grey Cup. Glover finished the season with 29 defensive tackles, three special teams stops, five pass knockdowns and two interceptions. He also added one defensive tackle and a knockdown in the Grey Cup.
