Laurie Niemi (Laurie Jack Niemi) was born on March 19, 1925 in Red Lodge, Montana. After going to high school at Clarkston (WA), Niemi attended Washington State Universtiy. Niemi made his professional debut in the NFL in 1949 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1953 was Laurie Niemi's best year, as he recovered 3 opponents fumbles and ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
