I was just boning up on some NL stats, and realized that Ryan Howard shouldn't be the lock for NL MVP that so many are making him out to be. His 58 HR are very impressive, as is his RBI total. But Pujols has a higher OBP, SLG and BA than Howard. He had just 9 fewer HR and 12 fewer RBI, despite missing the better pard of a month with an injury. And, even with that, he had 8 more doubles. Howard had 14 errors at first base, second in the major leagues behind only Nich Johnson with 15. AND, he quietly had a HUGE strikeout year (although not dissimilar from last year). In half a season last year, he whiffed 100 times. This season, he tied Mo Vaugh for 12th all-time in single-season strikeouts with 181.

I'm not saying Howard isn't a stellar player or anything, but there are some glaring weaknesses in his game that Pujols simply doesn't have.
