Which of these surprise starting QB’s will have the most fantasy value and a possible spot on your roster for the 2007 season?
Not too many of us have drafted any of the following QB’s, however, due to injury or bad play some of us fantasy owners will need to acquire one of these following players to fill the position. Take a look at the following and determine which QB has the best situation to make a fantasy roster and play above and beyond what most will expect.
Joey Harrington : Even though Harrington is not a last minute starter he is a surprise starter for the 2007 season. Could this be a possible rebirth to his career and an ideal situation in Atlanta? Don’t get me wrong it’s not like he’s inheriting the Colts offense, but he will have a good running game and a couple of quality options at the receiver and tight-end positions. Has Harrington matured enough to be a leader in the NFL?
David Garrard : Wow! What a surprise here! Not a surprise that he was named the starter, but he was named the starter with absolutely no pressure to perform. We could all argue that Garrard is in the best situation and should take full advantage of his opportunity, but in ‘06′ as a starter he never proved that he belonged in this league. Great running game, big strong receivers, and a defense that should keep games in reach, but the question remains; is David Garrard a starter in the NFL?
Damon Huard : If anyone has watched the HBO series “Hard Knocks” we all know that this looks like one of the worst situations in all of football. However, Huard was in the the same situation last season and proved that he is a capable QB by throwing 11 touchdowns to only one interception. Not to mention that he plays alongside one of the best backs in the game and even though he doesn’t have great receivers he has an all-pro TE in Tony Gonzalez and a possible stud in rookie wide-out in Dwayne Bowe.
Daunte Culpepper : I don’t think any of us ever doubted that Culpepper would win the starting job on an offense that couldn’t score a touchdown last season. Perfect situation for Culpepper considering he was cut this season and he’s not 100% healthy. When you talk about supporting casts, Culpepper has the worst of them all. However, when you talk about overall ability and a proven track record, Culpepper is light years ahead of every other player mentioned. Is he heatlthy? I hope so! Will his health make that much of a difference in adding any late season value to a fantasy franchise? That remains to be seen.
Which of these QB’s would you bet on to find his way onto your fantasy roster?
