Larry McLean (John Bannerman McLean) was born on July 18, 1881 in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada). He made his Major League debut on April 26, 1901 for the Boston Americans. In 1907, his rookie year, he hit .289 with 0 home runs and 54 RBI. McLean played for the Boston Americans, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Larry McLean's best season was 1910, when he hit for a .298 average and knocked in 71 runs.
