Born on July 16, 1920 in Verboort, Oregon, Larry Jansen (Lawrence Joseph Jansen) played for the New York Giants and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 9 year career. Jansen broke into the bigs on April 17, 1947 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.16 ERA in 248 innings pitched in 1947, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Larry Jansen's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1951, when he posted a 3.04 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 145 batters. However, others believe that it was 1950, when he posted a 3.01 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 161 batters.
