Larry Herndon (Larry Darnell Herndon) was born on November 3, 1953 in Sunflower, Mississippi. He made his Major League debut on September 4, 1974 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1976, his rookie year, he hit .288 with 2 home runs and 23 RBI. Herndon played for the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 14 year career.

Most people believe that Larry Herndon's best season was 1982, when he slugged 23 home runs, hit for a .292 average and knocked in 88 runs.
