Lane Howell (Autrey Lane Howell) was born on July 28, 1941 in Monroe, Louisiana. After going to high school at Carroll (Monroe, LA), Howell attended Grambling State University. Howell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1963 with the New York Giants. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1963 was Lane Howell's best year.
