Landis' B Test Positive

Tour de France winner Floyd Landis received further bad news today, even if it was expected -- his "B" blood sample turned up positive for elevated levels of testosterone. He was fired from his cycling team due to the result.

I have two problems with this whole thing. First, he was tested a minimum of five times throughout this race. No other test showed these results. Testosterone does not help the body in a race like this, even in an 11:1 ratio. There is no way that that high of a ratio can be processed by the body that quickly to not show up on the following test result. If anything, testosterone is a major drawback. And second, is the response of LeMond. He just can't seem to get the idea that there are other American cyclists that can win the Tour. He goes after Armstrong, then goes after Landis.

Too high of ratio is a sign of other things being present. It's not about the testosterone (which also precursors other hormones) but the epitestosterone, which enables the blood to carry more oxygen thus eliminating fatigue. What is so hard to figure out is these guys know they're being tested AND have ways (antecdotes, if you will) of passing the test in just minutes. He's gotta be real dumb to get caught, he's being set up by someone to look like he cheated, or he has freaky teestosterone making abilities ever once in a while... yeah, he's dumb.
